Today, nearing the end of an amazing and event filled day, I am watching the sun go down over the South China Sea while sipping a slightly chilled glass of chardonnay at the South Sea Resort Hotel in Dumagete, Negros Oriental, Philippines.   Getting here was an adventure all it's own, and involved an overnight ferry from Ormuc to Cebu City, a drive over the top of the tropical flower island of Cebu to catch another ferry to the island of Negros, and yet another drive nearly to the top of Negros where we spent the night in the guest pastor facilities of the parish of Saint Joseph, courtesy of Naty's uncle who has been residing there since his retirement as the bishop of Dumegete.   The following morning, a mere three hour drive going way too fast on a road made for slow speed travel, horn peep-peeping all the way, we managed to arrive without any physical trauma.   Those memories fading, now I'm watching towering cloud formations tinged in shades of pink and orange, slowly fade to darkness while the chardonnay is washing away the mental trauma from the journey.   A thoroughly delightful experience as you can well imagine.   The China Sea is nearly dead calm, a tramp steamer slowly navigating South to who knows where, in front of the setting sun.   Things could be worse...

Had dinner at the Los Arcos hotel this evening.   It's simply the best hotel in La Paz and I have a special attachment to it due to the quality of service and old world ambiance.   Dinner was "pescada del dia" for me and Naty had Mexican combo dinner.   Both were excellent.   After dinner, Naty had a flan and I had a Mexican coffee.   But you've got to understand that at the Los Arcos, Mexican coffee is not just a drink, it's a drink and a floor show.   There is enough alcohol in it to have it categorized as a weapon of mass destruction in some quarters.   In fact, there is enough alcohol in it to set it alight and melt the sugar on the rim of the glass whilst the maraschino cherry slow cooks in a spoon.   But allow me to get to the point of this rambling composition.   The sunset visible through the Los Arcos trademark windows was stunning too.   As I am writing, the first hurricane of the season is dropping the barometer and threatening to delay my departure from the La Paz International Airport - yes, they have one, and the cloud formations are responding accordingly.   While sipping my coffee, the sun snail paced it's way down the horizon line and settled slowly into a thin layer of clouds while reflecting off the waters in La Bahia De La Paz.   I've had worse days.

Just call me,
