Monkey Bay Marina Orchid

Photos and text of the sailing voyages of Ketch 22 in Guatemala

The Rio Dulce area of Guatemala is a very lovely tropical garden.   Rick and I checked in to Livingston ( an interesting name for a city in a Spanish speaking country by the way ), spent the night there after talking in with customs and immigration (and paying the appropriate fees) and then made our way up the Rio Dulce to the  Monkey Bay Marina .   The Guatemala and the Guatemala check-in process was a breath of fresh air, particularly after the  shakedown in Belize that I experienced.

There is lots more to see and do in Guatemala, but after 10 weeks and 1500 miles, I was ready for a break.   It was time to get back to California to check on my funding at Silicon Valley Simulation and pay taxes among other things.   I hadn't seen Naty since Isla Mujeres, and thought it was time to renew the aquaintance.   After making arrangements with John (the  Monkey Bay   harbor master) to keep an eye on Ketch 22, I slowly put things right on board and made my travel arrangements to California.
