Zihuatanejo Bay

San Blas to Zihuatanejo

Photos and text of the sailing voyages of Ketch 22

Our San Blas stay was too short, but we left anyway before the mosquitos had a chance to get any more of Rick's blood.   After some boat chores we headed South again, en-route to Zihuatenejo with a few stops enroute.

Needed to get some routine maintenance done prior to departure.  It's up the mast again!

The highest peak starts at the bottom.

Lets get on with it.

The pinnacle has been achieved.

It doesn't look very safe.

One man on safety.

Now it's Rick's turn.

Life on-board settles into a routine once underway.   Ketch 22 needs infrequent guidance, the skipper and crew have to eat, infrequent cleaning needs to be done, sunsets have to be watched carefully to verify the universe is operationaly stable etc.   Occasional anomalous conditions occur that spice things up every now and then as well.   That's life on board a cruising yacht.

Maybe time to get out of the way.

I'm listening to the SSB. What does it look like I'm doin?

This should be in Better Homes And Gardens.

Paul and Kathy on Tequila Rose.

Rigging the fishing line.

Proper sail trim.

So that's why Rick fell.

Looks like he cut it way too short on top!!

Deet , The San Blas wonder drug.

I know I left that anchor here somewhere.

Raising the staysail.

Needs a little trim, but it's operational.

Rick's turn in the barrel.

Leaving the Pacific behind, we rounded the point to get us in to Bahia Banderas, home to a variety of sea life and nightlife as well.   Puerto Vallarta is one of many beach towns fronting Bahia Banderas, and it was there that Naty and I had part of a one week honeymoon, many years ago.   This trip, I only had Tom and Rick to celebrate with.   Not quite the same, but we had a good time regardless.

Round the point to Bahia Banderas.

Whale to port in Bahia De Banderas.

View from the stern in Nayarit.

Approaching Puerto Vallarta.

Lot's of tourists in Puerto Vallarta.

Crowded, but pleasant nonetheless.

I could learn to like it here.

Beachfront views of Banderas Bay.

Waiting for the green flash .
